Regal Pigeon Games and The Arcade Crew have released a new demo of Chivalware on Steam, offering a more substantial taste of the particular roguelite that combines real-time grid combat and tile matching mechanics. Along with the demo, a new in-depth study dedicated to gameplay has also been published, waiting for the launch of the full version scheduled for this fall on PC. The new trial version allows you to use three of the five playable characters expected in the full game: The Disk Knight, The Tank Knight and The Jester Knight. More than half of the 80 floppy disk-based weapons will also be available, a substantial part of the more than 150 upgrades, two of the four biomes and new challenge levels designed to test the mastery of the combat system.

Chivalware is set in a bizarre universe that mixes medieval imagery and cyber elements, where the kingdom entrusts its knights with a rather unusual mission: to kill its King, who has gone mad after years of isolation and abuse of power. As you progressively get closer to the castle, however, strange glitches will begin to suggest that something more complex is hiding behind what is happening. The gameplay combines two seemingly distant systems. The player must line up groups of at least three tiles on the grid to feed their abilities and use weapons, while simultaneously continuing to move around the field to avoid enemy attacks in real time. The roguelite progression then allows you to permanently unlock new items, weapons and Disk Knights, expanding the strategic possibilities between games.
Regal Pigeon Games' goal is to build on the foundations of classic tile-based tactical adventures to build something decidedly more frantic, where planning skills and reflexes must coexist at the same time. Chivalware's new demo is available today on Steam, while the full game will debut on PC later this fall.
