Why Knot Studio and Red Dunes Games have announced the arrival of Princess of the Water Lilies: Definitive Edition on PlayStation 5, where the 2D puzzle-platformer will be available from September 17, 2026. The new edition was born after the launch of the PC version at the end of 2025 and the subsequent requests from the community for a console conversion, an opportunity used by the developers to revise numerous aspects of the original experience.

Princess of the Water Lilies takes players inside a fairytale world entirely hand-drawn, inspired by the golden age of animation and accompanied by a live recorded orchestral soundtrack. Behind an initially accessible setting, however, hides a progressively more challenging platformer, in which exploration, puzzles, obstacles, creatures and boss fights acquire greater complexity as the adventure progresses. The protagonist of the story is Princess, a particular cat with a flattened snout raised by a family of frogs, equipped with magical purrs capable of healing the world around her. Her power allows you to make plants bloom again, activate machinery, restore corrupted areas and modify the environment by making bridges and new paths appear. Crossing forests, caves and other biomes it will therefore be necessary to exploit these skills to solve puzzles, reach hidden areas and recover treasures.
Even the boss fights follow the peaceful philosophy of adventure. Princess does not eliminate the creatures she encounters, but uses her powers to free them from corruption, turning combat into a challenge based on understanding the mechanics and healing opponents.
The Definitive Edition introduces numerous changes compared to the previous version PC. Boss fights have been reworked with more precise attack patterns, more dynamic phases and a new balance of difficulties, while the narrative has been expanded through additional cinematic sequences. The developers have also revised visual and sound effects, redesigned some assets to make the art direction more consistent and refined the difficulty modes to offer a more gradual progression towards advanced challenges.
Finally, among the additions we find a new gallery of illustrations, in which hand-painted artwork will be progressively unlocked as you progress through the adventure. Princess of the Water Lilies: Definitive Edition will be available on PlayStation 5 from September 17, 2026.
