Team Lazerbeam and Devolver Digital have announced that Shroom and Gloom is available today in Early Access on Steam. The particular roguelike dungeon crawler takes players into the depths of a mushroom-infested world, combining exploration and combat through a system based on two distinct decks of cards. The first, called Explore, collects the actions used to interact with the dungeons, allowing you to explore, search, destroy, unlock or repair the elements encountered along the way. The Combat deck instead comes into play during clashes against the grotesque fungal creatures that populate the depths, with the ultimate goal of reaching the mysterious underground kingdom known as The Gloom.

One of the most unique features of Shroom and Gloom is the ability to upgrade cards without a set limit, even turning initial attacks into extremely powerful tools. Even defeated enemies become a resource: fungal creatures can be skewered, seasoned and roasted to recover health or used as ingredients to prepare soups capable of significantly changing the course of the game.
Visually, the game combines hand-drawn illustrations with three-dimensional settings, resulting in surreal dungeons populated by dozens of different creatures. In addition to the roguelike component, there is also a persistent progression, accompanied by hundreds of cards to find and modify during the various expeditions. The first version Early Access offers two different paths to reach The Gloom, each characterized by its own pool of cards, as well as five playable characters and numerous missions through which to unlock new content. Team Lazerbeam has already confirmed that development will continue by progressively adding new cards, enemies and dungeons.
Shroom and Gloom is available from today in Early Access on Steam for 14,99 euros, with additional content planned along the way that will lead the roguelike to its full version.
