BULKHEAD and Team17 have announced that WARDOGS has already surpassed one million copies sold, just as the 100-player tactical FPS debuts today on Early Access on Steam. A particularly important result for the project, which comes after months of strong growth in interest from the community. The rush to launch had already provided pretty clear signals: WARDOGS had reached 100,000 wishlists on Steam just three days after the announcement, surpassing 500,000 in May and finally reaching one million during the month of August. With the opening of the Early Access, that million wishlists has now translated into over a million copies actually sold.

Joe Brammer, CEO of BULKHEAD, emphasized how the studio tried to avoid fueling unrealistic expectations, openly showing during development what WARDOGS was and, above all, what it was not. The achievement of one million copies therefore represents an important confirmation of the public response, although the team reiterates that the project remains Early Access and that performance, stability and content will continue to be improved based on player feedback. The community has already played an important role in development. Almost half a million players participated in the August Closed Beta, while the last test before launch reached a peak of 245,118 concurrent users on Steam. The sessions allowed BULKHEAD to intervene on performance and stability, while at the same time offering the public numerous opportunities to see the game in action through clips, streams and videos.
To celebrate the launch, the studio also kicked off the #WARDOGS100K Clip Contest, which showcases the best plays, the most spectacular failures, and the most chaotic moments during the games. The creator of the best clip will receive $100,000 in cash, while the other Top 100 participants will each receive $100,000 in WARDOGS' internal currency.
WARDOGS is available today in Early Access on Steam, with BULKHEAD intending to continue development together with the community after a debut that has already brought the tactical FPS over one million copies sold.
