During Sony's State of Play, SQUARE ENIX showed a new trailer for FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE, the first installment in the series made entirely in HD-2D. Among the surprises shown stands out the presence of Sephiroth, which players will be able to track down and face in battle in an attempt to win a special reward. The news does not stop at the trailer. SQUARE ENIX has in fact published a free demo on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Xbox on PC. The trial version allows you to play from the beginning of the adventure to the conclusion of the first chapter, for an estimated duration between 3 and 5 hours, with the possibility of transferring your progress to the full game at the time of release.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE aims to represent a meeting point between the past and present of the saga, taking numerous characteristic elements of the historical chapters and reinterpreting them through a modern guise. At the center of the experience we will find a turn-based strategic combat system, flanked by the return of chocobos, espers, airships and numerous famous faces from the series. Among those already confirmed are Cloud, Tidus and the Warrior of Light, to which Sephiroth is now added. The story will take players to the kingdom of Grandshelt and is based on the first story arc of FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS. However, it will not be a simple adaptation of the mobile title: SQUARE ENIX has deeply reworked the experience to transform it into a complete RPG designed for consoles and PC, also taking advantage of the HD-2D style to combine pixel art and more elaborate scenarios.
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE will be released on October 22, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
