FORENSIC - M. E. Protocol is a game that starts from a really original idea, not to say almost unique that rare, in the current panorama of simil-simulative games: we will dress in fact the shoes of a police officer, having to use a variety of tools at our disposal to solve the murder case we will face.

The idea of itself is really pretty, but in our opinion the game failed to capture the spirit that had initially intrigued us. The start of the game, from the tutorial, reminded us a little Phasmophobia, since we will find ourselves inside our van, surrounded by our work tools and a few information on how to use them. Unfortunately, however, we had the feeling of being catapulted in the middle of, so to speak, action in medias res, without any kind of real tutorial not even within the tutorial itself. The information is scarce and advice on how to use the instruments almost zero and not intuitive, although to help us we decided to keep active the sporadic automatic tips of the game. Solving the tutorial was really frustrating, at times almost boring, because there was no introduction to the game or the usable tools, except for the few information written above each of them within the van. We also noted that the use of devices for the numbering of tests to be photographed does not work as described and seems almost useless at the end of the final score or the completion of the case.

Untrusted by the tutorial we had hope with the first case: a young woman found dead inside a park. Am I going to be murder or accidental death? We can't spoil you anything, but even without misfortune on our part, the case is intuitively solved without collecting all the tests, which become almost a boring and mechanical practice to increase the final score and unlock some achievements. During the second case we had a little more fun, gave a little more pepper to everything, but the absence of dubbing and of a sound compartment at the height, not to say completely absent, has still led us to the solution with malavoglia and little interest. The only variant compared to the previous case is the presence of suspects and cops to ask some questions, but they are practically useless and very scarce. On one of the suspects there are bruises that it would be good to analyze to see if they correspond to evidence found on the corpse, but the game does not analyze them, resulting in frustrating, static and superficial.

It's really a shame, because a really intriguing and exciting game could be created, which puts remarkable police and scientific puzzles in front of the player, but unfortunately remains a skeleton without any muscle to keep it standing. It would have been nice there was also some kind of storyline or campaign, such as cases linked to a serial killer, in which several similar clues appear in different crime scenes, leading us to a modus operandi and directing us to a single culprit. We think about the TV series Criminal Minds, where each episode is in itself, but at some point there are several seasons where the red wire is led by the same serial killer that threatens the team and must be captured.

To conclude, FORENSIC - M.E. Protocol is a game that could have had a huge potential, but the staticness of the cases, the absence of stimuli and the poor variety of cases make it a title at the moment unattractive to the public. Let's hope they get out of DLC or free updates that can improve the most critical aspects of the game.
