Announced "Mea Culpa", a massive expansion for Blasphemous 2

The Game Kitchen and Team17 Digital are ready to take us back into the dark world of Cvstodia with a massive expansion for Blasphemous II, titled Mea Culpa, which will release on 31 October across all platforms. Players will face a new ending, new bosses, uncharted areas, abilities and much more, thanks to this update that further expands the Penitent’s universe.

In Mea Culpa, players will have the opportunity to wield the legendary sword Mea Culpa, one of the most powerful artifacts, and experience a new narrative arc that culminates in an alternative ending. The story focuses on the rediscovery of the lost sword, already wielded by the Penitent in the first chapter, and its reconstruction through new missions and encounters with new characters.

The True Torment Update, a free update launching alongside the expansion, will introduce the long-awaited New Game+ with fully adjustable difficulty options, allowing players to customise their gameplay and tackle stronger enemies, lethal traps, and fatal falls. Additionally, existing areas such as the Coro di Spine, the Cattedrale Sommersa, and the Basilica delle Antiche Facce will be expanded with new challenges and quick routes to facilitate movement between already-explored zones. The update will also introduce new enemies and a series of quality-of-life improvements, making the gameplay experience smoother and more accessible. Players will be able to unlock new objectives and further enhance the Penitent’s abilities.

The paid expansion Mea Culpa will add two massive new areas to explore, formidable bosses to face, and new missions to reassemble the legendary sword. Players will also meet four new NPCs, each with their own destiny to uncover, and will be able to influence their fate throughout the story. The expansion will also offer the chance to experience one of the game’s most difficult battles, culminating in an alternative ending that will test every player’s skills.

Blasphemous II: Mea Culpa will be available for 11,99€, with a 20% discount for the first two weeks after launch.

Lorenzo "WaR" Agonigi was born in the now too distant 1995 and already three years later, in 1998, he began his gaming career, with a flaming Nintendo 64. I have to be honest, I wasn't a pro gamer right from the start, so much so that my first experiences more than as a gamer were as a spectator: while my parents, in turn, played, I enjoyed watching them (hey, I invented Twitch ten years in advance!!).
