It had been years since we’d heard any sign from Bethesda. Even a simple update, a minor patch that would have told us the project was still alive. On the development of the new chapter of The Elder Scrolls, the studio has remained silent, leaving fans in the dark for a long time.
Exactly today, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Bethesda Game Studios, the news that many fans had been waiting for has finally arrived. Through a short teaser, the company has officially revealed the title of the next chapter in its legendary RPG saga: The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.
An announcement certainly important, especially considering that several years have passed since the game’s first presentation, in 2018. Since then, we’ve witnessed very few updates, and despite the numerous rumours circulating over time, we hadn’t received any concrete information about the project. Today, finally, we have at least a name and an indication of the direction the new adventure might take.

The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel will take us to Hammerfell?
The teaser published by Bethesda goes beyond simply showing the game's title, as it also includes a short quote that might tell us more about the setting and events awaiting us.
Immediately after, a quote from Yazar, Priest of the Moth serving the High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell (4E 206) is presented:
"The parchment had offered only a flicker, a veil just lifted before my eyes. A lost future. A vanquished victory. Sands of time scattered by fate."
The reference to Hammerfell is particularly interesting. It is indeed one of Tamriel’s most important regions, known chiefly as the homeland of the Redguard. Within it we also find Sentinel, a city and a kingdom that could play a central role in the new adventure.
The choice of this name seems to suggest a shift in setting compared to what was seen in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Instead of snow-capped mountains and vast northern plains, we might explore territories characterized by vast desert expanses, ancient ruins, settlements, and coastlines rich with places to discover.
A setting that could offer many possibilities even from the perspective of exploration. The deserts of Hammerfell, in fact, might conceal forgotten cities, mysteries tied to the region’s history, and places still yet to be discovered. Naturally, for now we don’t have sufficient information to know in detail the structure of the game world, but the geographical reference contained in the teaser already offers an important first clue.
After years of anticipation, finally a concrete first step
So, after a long wait, Bethesda has finally decided to break its silence on one of the most anticipated role-playing games of the past few years. The presentation of The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel represents a significant moment for the community, especially for those who have followed the saga since the days of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.
However, we must remember that this announcement does not yet correspond to a formal game presentation. We have not seen gameplay sequences, images of the environments, or details about the new mechanics. The release date remains unknown, and according to the studio’s words, we will have to wait before receiving more substantial updates.
At least, we now know what the next adventure will be called and where our journey to Tamriel will take us. After all these years, that’s not nothing!
