Digital Extremes has published Preludes 16: Of Hook & Hound, Soulframe's new free update, which expands the Closed Alpha of the project with different functionality required by the community. Among the main novelties we find a fishing system, new interactions with your wolf puppy, dynamic weather conditions and a review of the customization of weapons, accompanied by new equipment and numerous improvements to the quality of life.

One of the most important additions is the wolf puppy. After completing the Fable The Shewolf Snared and choosing your partner, you can explore Alca along with him and progressively strengthen the bond through different activities. You will be able to play the shelter, walk, feed it with caught fish, fight together and even indulge yourself some moment of tranquility between an adventure and the other. Digital Extremes considers this only the first phase of the system: through the next updates the partner will continue to evolve until becoming a ride usable by the player.
Preludes 16 also introduces Fisheries, with new quiet areas in which to stop and use six different baits to capture as many species of fish, including Emerald Prickleback and Boilhead Wumper. Once captured, it will be possible to purify from their scales the corruption of the Ode and decide whether to release them again in the water or preserve them as food for their wolf. Both choices will offer different rewards.
The Soulframe world also becomes more dynamic thanks to a new weather system, able to combine different environmental conditions and moments of the day, passing from rainy nights and foggy mornings to sunsets. However, the weather will not have an exclusively aesthetic function, as some conditions will directly affect the gameplay, increasing lightning damage, or reducing the ability of enemies to locate the player.
Digital Extremes has also reworked Tempers system, giving greater control over weapons modifiers and the construction of their loadouts. The old weapons can be dismantled to recover the Tempers and then reconfigure them at the Tuvalkane blacksmith. To expand the arsenal come also the two-handed bat Wreath, the Gystalt stick and the Grimana side sword, along with the new armor set Suit of The Sleeve.
Soulframe Preludes remains a Closed Alpha experimental, through which Warframe's study continues to introduce and modify systems based on feedback received by players. Preludes 16: Of Hook & Hound is available for free today for participants in the test program, while fishing and wolf interaction system will continue to be expanded with the upcoming updates.
