Game Island e Toplitz Productions have confirmed the arrival of the new update for SERUM, their high-immersion single-player survival game.
Since its early access release on PC in May, the developers at Game Island have expanded and improved the game’s features through five previous patches. With update 6, the game receives one of its largest content additions, including 23 new Steam achievements, which players can unlock while engaging in looting, crafting, recycling, and facing mutated creatures during their gameplay. The update also introduces a customizable difficulty mode, allowing players to select the challenge level most suitable for them.
Furthermore, the new update provides a formidable tool to enhance survival capabilities: combat traps, which had been teased in the early access roadmap. These traps include cutting, piercing, and impact variants, thus offering a new tactical approach to confront the dangerous mutated beasts that populate the dark and challenging world of SERUM.
Update 6 builds on the improvements introduced in patch 5, such as autonomous traps and the new trap placement system, further expanding strategic possibilities for players. Game Island has also provided a full list of improvements and fixes relating to inventory, storage, quests, and the game’s visual aspects. Performance optimisations have been another major focus since patch 5.
Finally, patch 6 adds further language support, bringing the total number of supported 9 languages to the game.

Looking ahead, the roadmap for the early access of SERUM includes an anticipated co-op mode for up to 4 players, scheduled for the end of this year, alongside a new challenging level: the canyon biome, brimming with new mutated enemies and further revelations about the mutagen storyline, the core of the game’s main narrative.
