Glitchwalkers doesn’t just add a new planet; it extends the legacy of Astroneer by pushing the boundaries of the survival sandbox game. Players will be launched onto Aeoluz, a massive planet located in a glitched solar system, where they must face unprecedented challenges, explore new biomes and caves, and unlock a new technological tree with innovative modules. The expansion introduces an original antagonist: Lyn, a dissatisfied member of the ESS Elysium crew who has begun manipulating the code of the Astroneer Training Program (ATP). Players must team up with Frank, the head of Elysium’s maintenance, to stop Lyn and prevent her plans from destroying the ATP from within. This new storyline adds a more intense narrative dimension to the game, offering players a more immersive and complex experience.
Aeoluz, the new planet introduced in Glitchwalkers, is a vast world full of secrets to discover. With numerous new biomes and caves, players will have access to a variety of environments to explore, each with unique characteristics. The new technological tree offers multiple opportunities for progression, allowing players to unlock both brand-new technologies and previously seen modules reimagined to adapt to the new challenges.
For those who feel unready to explore Aeoluz, System Era Softworks has planned a free update for the base game. This update introduces new gameplay modes, quality-of-life improvements, and numerous bug fixes, ensuring all players can benefit from the new features, regardless of whether they choose to purchase the Glitchwalkers expansion.
