During the previous Nintendo Direct, SQUARE ENIX officially presented DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined, a remake of the classic DRAGON QUEST VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past from 2000. The title will be available from 5 February 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. Pre-orders are already active today. The game offers a unique aesthetic, handcrafted to give a look akin to an animated book, with characters originally drawn by Akira Toriyama reinterpreted in a 3D style inspired by real dolls and diorama-style scenes. The adventure remains faithful to the original plot, but introduces improvements to the narrative pacing, combat system, and overall experience.

Among the main features of DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined we find a hand-crafted aesthetic that gives dungeons and environments the look of true dioramas, a story made more concise yet enriched with optional content such as mini-games and side quests, and a revamped combat system that introduces dual vocations, the new ability Free Roam, and the Domaniostri vocation, capable of summoning powerful creatures in battle. Exploration becomes deeper thanks to fragments and tablets that unlock entirely new worlds to discover, while a new interface and various quality-of-life improvements ensure a smoother and more accessible gaming experience.
