Razer has unveiled the new Barracuda V2 Pro, wireless headphones designed for those who play on PC, but also wants to use the same device with smartphones, consoles, and portable devices. The idea is to offer a product suited for various situations, from gaming sessions to calls, through music listening and multimedia viewing.
To achieve this, the manufacturer has focused on some interesting features, including the 40mm Razer TriForce Bio-Cellulose drivers Razer TriForce Bio-Cellulose da 40 mm, THX Spatial Audio+ technology, hybrid active noise cancellation, and an AI-powered microphone system. Wireless connectivity at 2.4 GHz is also included alongside Bluetooth, while the advertised battery life reaches up to 70 hours. The launch price is €219.99.
How does the Razer Barracuda V2 Pro perform on the audio front?
We start with connectivity, one of the areas Razer has chosen to focus on. The Barracuda V2 Pro use the technology Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, designed to reduce gaming latency. According to the company, audio transmission can be up to twice as fast compared to Bluetooth LE.
To make switching between devices easier, we also have the Razer SmartSwitch button Razer SmartSwitch, which allows you to quickly switch between 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth connections. The two connections can also remain active simultaneously. This lets you receive calls or messages and listen to music without leaving the game.
Regarding audio quality, Razer has opted for 40mm TriForce Bio-Cellulose drivers, promising rich and natural sound with crisp highs, defined mids, and deep bass. Naturally, to truly understand how they perform in gaming and music listening, you’ll need to test them yourself — but on paper, the spec sheet looks quite comprehensive.
Those playing on PC can also make use of THX Spatial Audio+, a technology that delivers a virtual 7.1.4 surround sound. Beyond the sounds coming from different directions around the player, the system adds four overhead channels, aiming to make the audio more three-dimensional and improve the perception of where sound effects are located.
There’s no lack of the hybrid active noise cancellation, which uses both internal and external microphones to reduce ambient noise. hybrid active noise cancellation, which uses internal and external microphones to reduce ambient noise. A feature that can prove useful especially when playing in a shared room or in locations where it’s harder to isolate yourself from external sounds.
AI-enabled microphone with foldable design
Another area Razer has focused on is the microphone. The Barracuda V2 Pro uses a dual-mode system designed to adapt to the context in which they are used.
To play on PC and communicate with your team members, you can use the detachable boom microphone, while for situations where a more compact setup is preferred, internal beamforming microphones come into play. These allow you to use the headphones even without the external microphone.
Both modes include AI-based noise cancellation, which should help reduce background sounds and make your voice clearer during conversations. A solution designed not only for in-game chat, but also for everyday calls.
Moving to the design, the headphones weigh 285 grams and can be folded flat to take up less space during transport. There's also a dedicated compartment for the wireless dongle, so you can store it directly inside the headphones without risking losing it easily.
Razer has also included soft earcups and a headband designed to provide comfort during longer sessions. These details may seem secondary compared to technical specifications, but they become crucial when wearing the headphones for consecutive hours.
Up to 70 hours of autonomy
Among the figures declared by Razer, we find a maximum battery life of 70 hours with a single charge. This is an interesting figure for those who frequently use the headphones during the day and prefer not to have to recharge them constantly.
As always, you’ll need to see how long the battery really lasts in daily use, as the result can vary depending on connections and active features. The official figure remains one of the most important aspects of the new offering, especially for those who plan to use the headphones regularly.
Price and availability
The Razer Barracuda V2 Pro are available at a suggested price of 219,99 euro. You can purchase them via Razer's official website, at RazerStore, and through selected retailers.
On paper, the new model aims to offer a full feature set, including virtual surround sound, dual wireless connectivity, noise cancellation, and a removable microphone. To understand whether it will stand out from other headphones in the same price range, however, one must evaluate its audio quality, comfort, and real-world performance.
