Hell Let Loose: Vietnam – Expression Games arrives in the jungle

After captivating thousands of fans with its realistic, large-scale approach to World War II, Hell Let Loose is ready to make an epochal leap. In 2026, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will arrive, the first new chapter in the series that transports players into one of the 20th century’s most iconic and complex conflicts. The title, developed with the support of a second team created specifically by Expression under the aegis of Team17, promises to expand everything that made the original famous: 50-versus-50 battles, immersive realism, and a strategic gameplay built on cooperation between squadmates.

Set in 1965, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam recreates the conflict between US Forces and North Vietnamese Army (NVA) with obsessive attention to historical authenticity. Uniforms, weapons, vehicles and armored vehicles of the era will be present in a series of impactful maps, designed to convey the drama and tension of the conflict. From dense jungles to rice fields, passing through beaches, rivers and hills, the six scenarios available at launch are inspired by real operations such as Starlite and Piranha. This is not a 1:1 recreation, but rather environments conceived to ensure tactical variety and historical respect, while still offering unique identities and gameplay styles.

The new setting also serves as a pretext to introduce new mechanics.

  • Helicopters – American forces will be able to rely on fully piloted aircraft, useful for troop transport, resupply, reconnaissance, and aerial support.

  • Underground tunnels – The NVA can instead exploit a player-buildable tunnel system, an extension of the current Garrison system. These will enable hidden movements, sudden ambushes, and rapid force reallocations.

  • Fluvial Battles – Rivers will be the main feature of the Vietnamese maps, with American troops supported by the iconic Patrol Boat River (PBR) and Vietnamese forces ready to exploit their knowledge of the waters for swift counterattacks.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam won’t be a simple update, but a true standalone built from scratch. The switch to Unreal Engine 5 will bring significant graphical, performance, and audio improvements, along with a completely redesigned core codebase to accommodate new features. Among the announced updates: refreshed tutorials for new players, expanded roles such as the mortai, advanced commander abilities, and special attention to community feedback.

Team17 has emphasised that the arrival of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will not signify the abandonment of the World War II setting. The two titles will be developed and supported in parallel, benefiting from shared updates and improvements.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will be available in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store). It is already possible to add it to your wishlist.
