The indie strategy publisher Firesquid and developer Chaos Theory Games have announced their new underwater sidescroller strategy game Crab God, arriving on PC this year. With an army of adorable crabs at your command, you'll lead the Great Migration to birth a new Crab God deep in the ocean.

A fresh take on the genre, Crab God boasts a vibrant art style, an atmospheric soundtrack, and multiple difficulty levels suitable for any player. Assuming the role of a god, players must guide their Crabling disciples to cultivate new life across the ocean floor, nurturing a diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna and clearing out polluting debris. As players descend deeper, they encounter more lethal threats and murkier waters in their fight to revive the coral barrier and make their way to safety.
While players watch their virtual environment flourish and diversify, they may realise their gameplay is having a real impact on wildlife and habitats worldwide. By integrating dots.eco , Crab God converts gameplay actions into a major conservation effort. Completing levels and challenges not only helps small crabs survive, but also leads to planting new trees, cleaning oceans, protecting marine habitats and more.
This fusion of real and virtual oceans comes to life thanks to Crab God’s attention to real-world creatures, allowing players to learn more about biodiversity while playing. The plants cultivated by your Crab determine the creatures that visit your coral reef. Creating habitats for corals and anemones, for example, will attract clownfish, surgeonfish and angelfish, just like in real life. Beware, though, because not all fish are as friendly and welcoming as the Crablings.
"Crab-god is exactly the kind of game we love to support at Firesquid", said Anders Larsson CEO, "The game offers players a unique experience, not only giving the pleasure of success like in any strategic game, but it’s also enriched by doing good!"
