Today, Arkesia receives the much-anticipated August update titled “The Calm Before the Storm”. The downtime begins on August 14 at 9:00 Italian time (7:00 UTC) and will last around six hours. Discover the full list of new content, events, skins and other changes below.
Isola Indigo
The Indigo Island lies off the coast of the Kurzan Continent, in the Gienah Sea. The Indigo Island will include a quest that allows access to the “Sea Cave” solo dungeon, which unfolds across three paths. You can begin the Indigo mission and dungeon after interacting with the “Someone’s Voice” quest near the island’s entrance. Successfully completing the dungeon will reward you with the “Luminous Coral Stone”, exchangeable for progression materials such as Potent Elixirs (using Silver instead of Gold) and much more — so it’s definitely worth exploring this new island. The dungeon is divided into three paths, and initially you’ll only be able to access the leftmost path. Repeatedly clearing the dungeon will allow you to explore the other paths. The dungeon can be completed once per day per roster, and the opportunity to enter expires once the boss is defeated and rewards are distributed. The Indigo Island also includes: “Luminous Coral Stone”, exchangeable for progression materials such as Potent Elixirs (using Silver instead of Gold) and much more — so it definitely worth exploring this new island. Introduction to the Bonded Gold and Its Uses
Will be added the Bound Gold as a new currency, usable exclusively within progression systems.Bound Gold as a new type of currency, usable exclusively within progression systems. Two existing systems will be updated to provide Locked Gold instead of Exchangeable Gold: the gold chests obtained from One’s Tokens and Solo raids. We’re excited by the opportunities offered by Locked Gold, and will continue evaluating the system to find new ways to reward players with Gold and facilitate progression without negatively impacting the game’s economy. Locked Gold can be used in the following systems:
- Equipment Refinement
- Advanced Refinement
- Quality Improvement
- Creation of the Legion Commander's Equipment
- Set Effect Improvement
- Ability Stone Enhancement
- Creation and Editing of the Elixir

With three types of Gold, the order in which Gold will be used in systems that accept all types will be: first, Bound Gold, then Deposited Gold, and finally Exchangeable Gold.
Rebalancing of the Locked Gold in Solo Mode
With the introduction of Bound Gold, the Gold awarded in Solo Raids will be converted into Bound Gold and increased to better support player progression. The rebalanced values can be found in the detailed table in the update notes.
Chaos Dungeon Purification System
The Chaos Dungeons will receive a new Weekly Purification Mission SystemPlaying in the Chaos Dungeons with the Resonance Aura active, you’ll earn weekly Purification Points. These points stack up, allowing you to unlock reward chests. Silver and Honour Fragments earned from Chaos Dungeons will be removed and replaced with reward chests containing these items within the Purification system. Players can accumulate 50 Purification Points on their Purification Bar per Chaos Dungeon run, with maximum rewards achievable at 300 points (6 runs per week). The Rest Bonus will not affect Purification Points.
This system will work very similarly to the One Tokens, and has been designed to give players more flexibility over when to complete the Chaos Dungeons during the week, reducing fatigue. Along with the launch of this update, a special event will be added to further boost the rewards obtained. More details in the Events section of the release notes.
Update to the Ebony Cube
Some minor tweaks will be implemented to speed up Cube of Ebony playthroughs, such as adjusting enemy HP scaling based on the number of players.
Chaos Dungeon Purification Event
A special Chaos Dungeon Purification event will accompany the launch of the Chaos Dungeon Purification System. The event runs from 14 August to 25 September, but the Chaos Dungeon Purification System will continue even after the event ends. The event is designed to offer additional rewards ahead of the Tier 4 launch, ensuring you’re rewarded for your efforts with useful progression materials.
During the event, bonus reward chests will be awarded upon reaching thresholds of 100, 200 or 300 Purification Points. The chests will contain refining materials corresponding to the level of the completed Chaos Dungeon, such as Destruction/Obliteration Stones, Guardian/Protection Stones and Tier 3 Jump Stones. Each chest will also include Purification Tokens, which can be spent in an event shop to obtain further rewards, such as Transcendence Restoration Tickets, refining support chests, fusion materials and more!
General Updates
- The Maharaka Festival will continue with the mini-game ‘Sail Away, Mokoko! Pirate!’, an exclusive event shop and a new daily mission.
- A new Monthly Fever Event.
- The daily login reward tracker has been updated.
- Neria's WardrobeWhether you feel bold or preppy, Neria's Wardrobe has something that suits your style. Find Neria's new collection shown below, available for a limited time.
- Skin Runner: Add these new runner skins to your athleisure collection. The collection will be available in the game store as an evergreen item.
- Omen Cosmetics: The Omen cosmetics collection will return as an evergreen item in the store, with added options for classes created after the initial launch.
General Updates
- Character Name Reset: Character names will be released for inactive accounts that haven't logged into Lost Ark in over a year and have a combat level below 50.
- Endgame content: A UI window will appear when users attempt to end their connection and switch characters during endgame content.
- Waiting Times for Dungeon AbandonmentWaiting times for voting to abandon the dungeon have been set.
