This new remake continues the story begun in DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, released last year. The Erdrick trilogy is now complete in chronological order, allowing fans to follow the entire narrative arc of the legendary hero and his descendants. Players will be able to experience this collection as a continuation of the saga or enjoy it as a standalone adventure.
In the trailer shown, it was possible to see the protagonists – the descendants of Erdrick – engaged in explorations, turn-based battles, and interactions within classic village settings in the DRAGON QUEST style, all enhanced by a refreshed visual component.
Developed by the Team Asano at Square Enix, DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake uses the acclaimed HD-2D style, previously seen in Octopath Traveler and earlier remakes of the series. The style blends pixel-art sprites with 3D environments and modern visual effects to create an atmosphere that balances fidelity to the originals with a fresh aesthetic. This is the sixth title to use this graphical technique.
Those who wish to start the trilogy from the beginning can already play DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, available on all major platforms. A great way to prepare for the arrival of the double remake and to experience the full epic of Erdrick, one of the absolute icons of JRPG history.
At the moment, no official release date has been announced yet, Square Enix has promised new information in the coming months.
