The next update for Fallout 76 arrives Monday 19 October and with it Halloween will overwhelm the Appalachia. Those who roam the Contaminated Zone will don costumes that will make your skin crawl and leave behind special delicacies. Put on your favourite costume and keep reading to discover all the details, so you can join in the spookiness before these chilling events end on 2 November.
From 19 October to 2 November, you may occasionally encounter these “scary frightful” creatures during your adventures. Each of them will enter the game as legendary, and defeating them will reward you with a legendary item and a piece of mystery candy. You’ll also receive a large amount of scary sweets, which you can open to earn rewards such as consumables, ammunition, and even the chance to obtain a Halloween-themed loot!
From 19 October, all players will be able to request a free Scary Sweets Bowl at the Atomic Shop, place it in their C.A.M.P., and fill it with Mystery Candies obtained from the Scary Spookers or purchased from station vendors. Until 2 November, all residents will receive daily challenges for “Sweet or Trick” in other players’ C.A.M.P.s, as well as daily and weekly challenges for distributing delicacies from their Scary Sweets Bowls. Completing each of these daily challenges will grant you one of the many available rewards, such as a consumable item, a Talent Card pack, a lunch basket, a repair kit, or a bit of S.C.O.R.E. Additionally, weekly challenges to give candies to “Sweet or Trick” enthusiasts may reward you with S.C.O.R.E., rare crafting materials, or even Halloween costumes. If you manage to complete both weekly challenges, you’ll also receive the new popcorn machine to build in your Appalachian home.

Remember to turn your house into a terrifying haunted mansion that will scare off your visitors and make sure you place the scary sweets bowl in a spot where others can find it easily. And don’t worry about any potential inhabitants who might take all the sweets at once. Each inhabitant will get a piece of candy every hour. Finally, just like in real life, you’ll need to be dressed up to successfully pull off “sweets or tricks,” so make sure you’re wearing your most festive outfit when visiting other players’ C.A.M.P.s.
Even though a Halloween themed around sugar is now around the corner, there’s another important occasion remembered every year during this time. The Day of the Bomb is a sombre reminder of how the world has changed forever on October 23. But it’s also an occasion to celebrate, because despite everything, you’re still alive, thriving, and transforming the post-apocalyptic Appalachia into a home. To commemorate the Day of the Bomb, the development team has thought of game license offers and atoms, along with various events over the coming weekends.

The offers for the Day of Bombs continue with an event “Scrip bonus”, over the weekend from 21 to 25 October, during which you can earn up to double the usual daily legendary scrip by handing in your unwanted legendary items via the designated exchange machines. Subsequently, you can take your pile of scrip to the Collector Murmrgh’s Emporium at the Rusty Pickaxe to obtain legendary weapons and armor with a 50% discount off standard price.
Finally, those of you brave enough to venture into daily operations can truly prove yourselves by tackling the double mutations throughout the weekend. Enemies will feature unique combinations of two mutant effects, but obviously you’ll receive bonus rewards for your efforts, including double PE during daily operation sessions and double value and legendary cores.
