HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact’s version 7.1, titled “Requiem for the Afterlife”, will be available from 23 September. The new update will lead toward a pivotal moment in the story of Snezhnaya, introducing two new 5-star characters, Vesna and Vodyanitsa, the return of the Liyue Moon Festival, and numerous rewards to celebrate the game’s sixth anniversary.

The new Archon mission will finally allow players to face the Tsaritsa and uncover the true objective behind her long collection of Gnosi. Complicating matters will be Ronova, the Lady of Death, intent on hindering Snezhnaya’s development with her powers, while the arrival of Rhinedottir, designated as the Lady of Life, will make the conflict even more complex. Ronova will also become a new weekly boss, and completing the Archon mission will yield 620 Primogems.
On the character front, Vesna e Vodyanitsa will debut, both five-star characters designed to enhance Turbinio astrale. Vesna will be an Anemo character wielding a sword capable of converting Cryo Turbinio into Turbinio astrale and using specific spiritual blades, while her Vila abilities will even allow her to fly during exploration. Vodyanitsa, on the other hand, will be a Hydro character with a support-oriented catalyst: she can heal the active character, reduce elemental resistances of enemies, and boost their ATT, while also taking the form of a Water Sprite to move freely both in and out of water. Both new characters will be featured in the first phase of the Desideri event for version 7.1, while in the second phase, Skirk and Escoffier will return. After five years, players will also return to Liyue for the Festival della luna, with the Yilong Bridge fully decorated for the occasion and a new story tied to a mystery that neither Zhongli nor Zibai have yet solved. The event will feature three mini-games and will allow players to obtain, among other rewards, a new four-star sword.
Further activities will arrive in Snezhnaya and Natlan, while Miliastra Mirabilia will receive an autumn-themed lobby, new rewards, and additional tools for its editor, including client script support and collaborative editing. Particularly generous will be the celebrations for the sixth anniversary of Genshin Impact: for the first time, those who complete the Archon’s final mission will be able to redeem one of the exclusive 5-star characters selected for the entire duration of the version. This will be supplemented by a permanent 5-star character of choice, 1,600 Primogems, 10 Entwined Destinies, and further rewards.
Genshin Impact 7.1: Requiem per l'oltretomba will be available from 23 September on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android and iOS, with cross-progression and co-op support.
