release this about the future of Wild Rift's eSport:
A year ago we launched the inaugural season of Wild Rift Esports, Riot's first adventure ineSport mobile, and we have done so with all the aspirations, ambitions and resources that we provide to our other already established eSports. This year we have achieved something exciting in different regions, but we have decided to focus mainly on those where mobile games and esports are rising, limiting our competitive operations in the rest of the world.
In 2023 we will centralize our efforts and focus on the eSport of Wild Rift in Asia, the region with the world's largest and most active mobile eSport market. Wild Rift in Asia will be the first professional interregional eSport alloy on mobile devices and will replace Wild Rift Esports (WRE) from April 2023. This new ecosystem will be formed by 12 teams of the Chinese WRL and eight teams from other Asian regions of 2022. The season will consist of two splits a year and will highlight the best talents of the most competitive regions of our sport.
Given the robust Asian mobile eSport market and the high level of competition in these regions (as was evident in the Icons 2022), we are happy to be able to open for the first time the regular season of the Wild Rift eSport to interregional game. The new league of Wild Rift will make live more regularly the intensity and emotion of regional rivalries to all fans in Asia. We will give you more information about this alloy at the beginning of 2023!
In the light of this new program, we will no longer manage the eSport leagues of Wild Rift outside Asia, leaving instead the possibility to third parties to organize events: in this way we can give priority to the new Asian league of Wild Rift.
We are convinced that these changes will give the community time and space to grow naturally and establish the role of high-level competitions in its ecosystem. We will continue to observe the evolution of the Wild Rift eSport panorama and we will be ready to move accordingly.
The first year of Wild Rift Esports taught us a lot and we are grateful to the community, players and teams around the world for the great support provided. Thanks again and appointment at 2023 for the presentation of new Asian alloy!
