Golftopia: The review !!!

Golftopia is the second indie title made by MinMax-Games, Canadian company, who had already entered the video game market with their first game "Space Pirates & Zombie."

It is a management set on the future, which perhaps will twist the nose to those who expected a classic management of golf resort. Precisely for this reason already during the first stages of the game you can feel a bit smoothed considering the menu that is already completely unlocked, with different options and a tutorial, i.e. simple help windows that explain the summary mode only some functions that can be used during the gameplay.

You start from the selection of a portion of map, where you will start building your own golf club and as you advance you will be able to buy other land to expand. The soils are generated quite randomly and, like on minecraft, you can enter the classic number of "seeds" to generate another type of random terrain. Alternatively you can change from a classic menu the resources that our map must have, then water, trees, rocks, grass or even temperature, which will affect the morale of our customers.

The first thing that the game will tell us to do, will be to place the "base" of welcome for customers who will come to visit our club and from there you will start with the creation of the first holes. Speaking of holes, we can initially create only 5, then as our business will earn money and increase its prestige, we can have more holes in our resort.
During the creation of the first "hole" you will notice that to make our ball a path that does not cut the whole field, making it arrive directly on the "green", it will be enough to interpose in the middle of the obstacles (masses, trees, mountains), so that our customers will be forced to use the whole field, before putting their ball in. In any case, when you are in creation mode, before opening the field to the public, we will have a button that will show all possible trajectories that will have the balls of our golfers, so as to understand if there are parts of the ground to be settled. In the photo below you can see the n.3 hole test and see that most balls will take more or less that trajectory. If you are satisfied, just open the field, otherwise you will continue with your changes.

In addition to transforming the soil, raising it or lowering it, you can choose the type of the same, inserting parts in low or high lawn, parts in sand, green and so on, all "painting" your soil, just as if you are coloring in paint on windows. The thing that perhaps disturbs the player is that the portion of the map in which it builds, may seem too squeezed, forcing the player to optimize every inch of it.

In addition to the construction of our land, we will have other tools ranging from the suspended "meter", which allows golfers to move to more distant points, to simple catering facilities, which will allow the club to have more revenue. In addition to the input speech, the more services you offer, the more structures you create, the more these will affect the morale of customers and, consequently, the higher the morale, the more these will be willing to return to play in your fields!

In addition to the classic tools we will have at the disposal of futuristic "powers", placed just below the bar of our money. Such instruments allow, by consuming a kind of "energy" that is generated over time, to use special powers. One of them generates happiness to all people who are in the range of skill. Others allow to steal money from customers' pockets (and they will not be very happy with this). We will have all 5 skills available immediately, so it is up to you to choose when to use them and especially what to use.
During the game we will also have small robots that will help us to maintain our structures or to cut the vegetation that grows during our game.

What to say, the game remains in the standard of the indie, medium longevity and graphics that did not particularly impress me, perhaps because of the colors too bright and for the setting of the menus that I find very basic. Surely in this respect it could be done better and I do not exclude that in the future developers can make changes in this sense. As for the gameplay I would say that it is pleasant, never hectic (which happens in many management), also recommended to those who want to spend the time of the lunch break before returning to the daily routine. Let's understand, it's not a title that keeps you glued so much time on the screen and the moment I'm writing the review, it has a price on Steam of 16.79 €, maybe a little too many for this product.

I was born on December 8, 1980, the historic date for the death of John Lennon (you have already understood that I am a music lover). I spent the first years of my life divided between football with friends near the house and the first video games. My father bought a Commodore 64 that he used for the titles of the videos he produced, when he had the hobby of photography and video shooting.
