The Lord of the Rings - The Rohirrim War - The Review no spoiler

I didn't think I'd write this review, but after damning for the entire duration of the film, I felt the duty to warn anyone who might be tempted.

The Lord of the Rings - The War of the Rohirrim represents different problems of modern filmography with some unwanted additions.

The history is one of the worst that I have ever seen represented. It's not banality of the plot in itself or incipit narrative drawn and that absolutely do not represent the people of the Rorhim as it was written, is that the story It doesn't make sense.. The question that comes out spontaneously is if you've ever read it before you start making the film. This film is an inconsistent, illogical and childish representation.

Inconsistent, as the actions of the characters happen with the transport and without consequences from what surrounds them. We find protagonists that from the outside of the walls, surrounded by allies, are located in the next scene alone within the same without anyone to help them, except to see reappear these allies when necessary.

Illogic, as the actions seem not follow the narrative context in which they are set: the characters act more to justify a subsequent action than for natural development of the plot. For example, there are those who go down from horse, while he was running away, to get caught by someone who should not even be present.

Children, as the film contains a avalanche of clichés that we would all want to avoid: phrases made, good angelic and enemies tether. Already from the beginning we can get acquainted with the negative characters of this story and, surprise surprise, look random the bad is ugly and big, look at the enemy is tattooed, look at case he has piercings and look at case he is detested by everyone. As if it wasn't enough, one of the antagonists is called "Wulf".

If we try to forget the story and rely on it artistic direction, even here the level It is not absolutely absolutely from film of the cinema. These approximation levels can go well for animated series whose bets come out weekly, free of charge, for television, but are not acceptable if you have to expose them to movies. Seppure the idea at the base could also be Good, the use of detailed landscapes with overlapping animations, the application leaves to be desired.

Some parts suggest that there was no quality control before the release in the rooms. Steps in the scenario where the camera does a wide angle are a nuisance to the eyes. The pictures become completely gears for several seconds. The advice is to temporarily divert the look to not feel bother at sight. The frames of the characters' movements are very few. Forget any fluidity in the images: like an amateur stop-motion, jump from a position to the other of the characters with a snappy result. Again, underline, acceptable if we were talking about a cartoon, but this is neither a cartoon nor any film. This is another scempio to the works of J.R.R.R. Tolkien.

The scene of the King

There is one sequence in particular alone the whole work, even if you came to the room after losing the first half of the movie. Just over half, in fact, we are in front of a follow-up to contrasensus and illogicality. Without entering into details to avoid spoilers, just say that the problems accumulate quickly: enemies who previously feared retaliation act freely, crucial steps that should be supervised are instead unattended for plot needs, and doors that inexplicably open and close without logic. This narrative chaos exudes the inability of writers to give consistency and direction to the plot, limiting itself to moving the characters where it served, without taking care of how. The phrase "were found the next morning" is comparable, by level of insensitivity, to the famous "Somehow Palpatine is back".

Only positive aspect The Lord of the Rings - The War of the Rohirrim is in sound, with sound columns taken from the original trilogy and good additions. The music, in fact, succeeds transmit a sense of epicity and nostalgia that resumes the work of Peter Jackson. The new tracks integrate well with classic themes, creating aimmersive atmosphere that, although not enough to redeem the film, can give some emotionally intense moments. A cure that shows how, at least in this area, it has tried to respect the sound heritage of the saga.

The result is a work that differs enormously from the depth and coherence of the Tolkienian universe, instead proposing a simplified and superficial version of moral and narrative complexity that you would expect from a movie tied to The Lord of the Rings.

The Lord of the Rings - The War of the Rohirrim fails to respect and honor not only the rich world created by Tolkien, but also basic levels of modern narrative. We are faced with a work that not only lacks narrative coherence, but that does not satisfy even visually, with a poor artistic direction and a animation quality from cardboard to episodes. The superficiality of history and the inconsistency of its development cannot be compensated even by soundtrack, which represents the only noteworthy element. It is worth putting on spotify the soundtrack of the originals and save more than 2h of life. This movie is abitter disappointment, and a clear example of the superficiality of modern American filmography and how lack of respect for sources can lead to a mediocre result.

Biography

- Articolista di KotaWorld.it
You can describe the world of gaming in many ways, for me it remains a portal, a back door, something that you take to get out of the real world and stay a while to live great stories or fight amazing wars that for the luck of this Era we no longer find ourselves experiencing. The magic that surrounds some games has always filled me with emotions, the inevitability in Final Fantasy Crisis Core, the great campaigns of Age of Empires, the defeats to the sound of cannons in Sea of Thieves, the meters of land conquered with rivers of lead in Battlefield.
